Artists portrait of Wassily Kandinsky

Wassily Kandinsky

  • Born: 4. December 1866 in Moskau
  • Died: 13. December 1944
Born on December 4th, 1866 in Moscow as the son of a tea trader, Vassily Kandinsky is considered as one of the major forerunners of abstract painting. After graduating from Moscow University in economics and law he gave his undivided attention to painting and moved to Munich in 1986. After learning under the well-known drawingroom painter Franz von Stork, where he met Paul Klee for the first time in 1900, he established his own "Phalanx"-painting school, and step by step freed himself in the following years from the restrictions of form. He was first able to develop his own language of colours during his Murnauer phase (I908-1914), where he was loosely involved in exhibitions and projects of the artistic group "The Blue Rider" revolving around August Macke, Franz Marc, Gabriele Münter and Alexej von Jawlensky. After these colourful explosive improvisations he then came into contact with the Russian constructivists between 1914-1921. This was followed by years of teaching at the Bauhaus (1322-1933) where his best known works in a structurally and strictly composed style emerged. Not until his later Parisian phase from 1933, did he again develop more playful and generous compositions, which strongly remind us of biological forms and elements, the so-called view through a microscope. Kandinsky died on December 13th 1944 in Neuilly-sur-Seine.
The pictures are predominantly assigned to the art direction Abstract Art.
The art works of the artist are dominated by the colors white, gray and black.

Art Prints

We deliver exclusively art prints from well-known art publishers in brilliant quality, such as the art print »Color study squares« from Wassily Kandinsky. Classic art prints are normally produced by offset or screen printing. In this case, often also spot colours and embossments are used.

Art Cards

Our art cards are from well-known publishers in Germany. The classic 15x10 format is just as represented as the square 14x14 format. They all have a varnished surface to provide the best possible protection. Often art cards are only offered in a pack of 10. With us you receive e.g. »Houses of Munich« from Wassily Kandinsky also as a single item.

Stretcher on canvas

Our canvas prints are handmade in our own workshop. Either the canvas print or the art print laminated on a canvas is stretched onto a quality keyless frame. Perfectly wedged and provided with a suspension, the canvas image can be hung directly. Optionally, we also offer each canvas picture framed, i.e. with floater frame. »Yellow, Red, Blue, 1925« of Wassily Kandinsky as a canvas image also beautifies your home.

Framed pictures

We frame almost every picture. You can choose from many different frames. Passepartouts are just as much a part of your choice as are various options for surface protection. So »Accent in Pink, 1926« of Wassily Kandinsky becomes a highlight for your living room or bedroom.
