Pioneers of Contemporary Art

Christo Vladimirov Javacheff, known as Christo, was born on June 13, 1935 in Gabrovo, Bulgaria, and Jeanne-Claude Denat de Guillebon, known as Jeanne-Claude, was born on June 13, 1935 in Casablanca, Morocco. Together they formed a unique artistic duo that impressed the world with their monumental and ephemeral works of art.

Christo and Jeanne-Claude met in Paris in 1958 and began a collaborative partnership that lasted until Jeanne-Claude's death in 2009. Their shared artistic vision was to push the boundaries of conventional art and transform public space with spectacular and often provocative installations.

The importance of Christo and Jeanne-Claude to contemporary art cannot be overestimated. Their works became sensational worldwide and left lasting impressions on viewers. Their installations, which often included landscapes, buildings, and entire cities, challenged conventional notions of art, property, and public space.

A distinctive feature of her artworks was to break down barriers and get people to perceive their surroundings in new ways. Covering the Reichstag in Berlin, wrapping the Pont Neuf in Paris, and erecting gates in Central Park in New York City are just a few examples of their iconic works that attracted millions of people and engaged them in dialogue about art and urban space.

Christo and Jeanne-Claude were known to struggle for years with permits, funding, and technical challenges to bring their visionary projects to fruition. Through their persistence and unwavering belief in the power of art, they were able to overcome barriers and win the approval of governments, communities, and agencies.

Their artworks were often temporary and ephemeral, adding to their significance and presence. They created immersive experiences that encouraged viewers to question their surroundings and take a new perspective on the space around them.

Christo and Jeanne-Claude made a lasting impact on contemporary art with their groundbreaking works. They opened up new possibilities for interaction between art and public space and raised questions about aesthetics, context, and social norms. Their legacy and significance will continue to inspire and influence the art world.

Art Cards

Our art cards are from well-known publishers in Germany. The classic 15x10 format is just as represented as the square 14x14 format. They all have a varnished surface to provide the best possible protection. Often art cards are only offered in a pack of 10. With us you receive e.g. »Wrapped Trees 33« from Christo und Jeanne-Claude also as a single item.

Graphic Arts

Prints or graphics, often also called prints or original graphics, are always created with the collaboration of the artist as prints of special quality. The printing process used by the artist is chosen in such a way that the artwork is shown to its best advantage, as for example in »Wrapped Statues Fawn« by Christo und Jeanne-Claude.

Stretcher on canvas

Our canvas prints are handmade in our own workshop. Either the canvas print or the art print laminated on a canvas is stretched onto a quality keyless frame. Perfectly wedged and provided with a suspension, the canvas image can be hung directly. Optionally, we also offer each canvas picture framed, i.e. with floater frame. »The Pont-Neuf Wrapped (1995)« of Christo und Jeanne-Claude as a canvas image also beautifies your home.

Framed pictures

We frame almost every picture. You can choose from many different frames. Passepartouts are just as much a part of your choice as are various options for surface protection. So »Eighteen o'clock (1995)« of Christo und Jeanne-Claude becomes a highlight for your living room or bedroom.
