Iván Macía
- Lebt (lebte) in Spain
My name is Iván Macía, born in Donostia - San Sebastián, a beautiful place in the Basque Country, in the North of Spain. I consider myself a partial time but full illusion photographer. After playing for some time with a compact Sony with manual control, I purchased my first DSL-R in 2009. I decided I would like to learn seriously how to capture what I was seeing during travel, in the streets or in social events. I was attracted by the sheer beauty of the moment, of depicting with my camera a series of attractive elements, sensations and feelings. Since then, I have been in continuous learning, always exploring new techniques and advised by first class photographers.
My main work, related with imaging research, apart for the constante learning, makes a bit easier for me to understand some of the technical concepts, specially those related to image generation and processing. However, photography can be regarded as an artistical extension of my work, which is why I like most and what I try to work harder. In fact I always think that starting from a good capture, processing may also give the image that personal, artistic touch. My main interest has always been landscape photography, nothing strange since I live in a place with awesome coastal and mountain landscapes. Social events allowed me to practice how to depict people in different situations. As an evolution, I am currently extending my work to studio photography, in order to be able to better control the light. My approach to photographing people is thinking that everyone has something to say in front of a camera, although I usually prefer to stay behind :) Hope you enjoy my work and thanks for coming.
